Blogs - The Results of Open Source
Perhaps the best representation of open source that is widely used by all people would be the blogs. Almost all
companies and individuals have used blogs to either promote or to leave a small online presence for themselves.
The most popular open source blog would be Wordpress. Over 1 million blogs used Wordpress as the primary
blogging tool.
Why are blogs so popular? There are 2 main reasons:
1) It is one of the easiest CMS (Content Management Solution) tool online
CMS is a very important aspect for any businesses. Blogs are basically a content management script that handles
your content easily. Wordpress comes with Fantastico for hosting accounts, which means that installation is only a
3 steps process and you can have a new blog in less than 5 minutes!
2) Blogs are popular in Google's eyes
As you may know, Google loves new content. Blogs are one of the great places to look for new content because of
the sheer number of people blogging online. Thus, blogs are also a great promotion tool for all Internet
Marketers.
No doubts about it. Blogs are a great way to get yourself online, fast. If you are an individual who have no
technical skills, blogs are still an easy learning script that you can use and you should be able to run a blog in
less than a day.
Companies and advertising individuals love blogs purely because of the unpreceeded exposure given by blogs.
Due to the popularity of blogs, blog has also evolved to allow multiple users to host their blogs in the same
domain name. This is commonly known as Blog Networks. Wordpress call it WordPress Multi-User
script, or commonly known as Wordpress MU. Wordpress MU basically a script that allows you to have
multiple instances of a Wordpress blog, all hosted under the SAME domain name.
Other companies like Google and Microsoft have their own multi-user blogging accounts.
This means that an individual does not need to have a domain name, they just need to sign up with the blog
network and you can get a new blog up and running in just minutes!
